To all,
I would like all Building Officials to remember that public safety is a joint effort and a shared responsibility - a shared responsibility which starts with and is coordinated by the local Building Department under the direction of the Building Commissioner.
We as Building Officials are charged with public safety and the safety of your first responders should an incident occur. Our task is to prevent tragic incidents from occurring in the built environment, ensuring safe structures in which to live, work and recreate.
Your Federation shall continue to advocate for responsible and reasonable code development, and be involved with the legislative process whenever our profession or the safety of the citizens of the commonwealth may be impacted.
I ask you to get involved, if even in the smallest way, with the Federation and your regional Building Official association.
