Massachusetts Federation of Building Officials

It is an honor to serve you as President of the Massachusetts Federation of Building Officials. As a Federation, we will continue to speak with one voice when advocating for responsible and reasonable code development.  We will also continue to stay involved in the legislative process whenever our line of work or the well-being of the public may be impacted as a result of the built environment.

Despite challenging economic times we continue to make progress.  Our work as Building Officials is validated every day when the citizens living in our communities remain safe.  Our certified Building Inspectors are of the highest quality. The high standards we set for education and training is truly an asset to our communities.  However, keeping this customary is not easy when the public is demanding services that are more than departments can afford and the structures being built in our communities are increasingly more complex.  We all struggle to find a balance between the public’s high expectations and our limited resources.  Getting the public to recognize this has been one of our biggest challenges.  

These have been demanding times though we continue to make tough decisions, and together we have advanced.  The three associations do an outstanding job of providing education and networking opportunities for member Building Inspectors.  They also provide a great deal of support to the Federation.  Member support and feedback will be crucial to the success of our organization.

As we move forward, please consider getting involved with your respective association -  everyone has something to contribute.  Many of us understand the need to increase public awareness toward the value building inspectors have in their everyday lives.  Working together we can fulfill our mission and overcome these challenges.
